Making a Difference Together
Part of the decluttering process involves letting go of items that no longer serve a purpose. Rather than simply discarding these belongings, I encourage participants to consider donating to local organizations. Your act of generosity not only declutters your home but also contributes to the betterment of our community.
1. Families Moving Forward
Working together, we help provide families with children a stable, safe, and loving environment while they are in the temporary crisis of homelessness. FMF now offers after-school tutoring, educational enrichment programming, and early interventions to children residing in our shelter as part of a multi-generation approach that aims to break the cycle of poverty in our community. 3. Triangle eCycling
We serve businesses and organizations – large and small – and individuals. We use what we collect as material for a sustainable computer tech education lab. With the assistance of Durham and Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School administrators and teachers, we have trained over 140 high school students in our shop. They spend an entire semester refurbishing computers, learning about environmental/humanitarian issues surrounding e-waste, sustainable business models, and private enterprise giving back to their community. Refurbished computers are donated to local nonprofits that support children’s education. Visit Here
4. Urban Ministries
Urban Ministries of Durham is the primary point of connection for those who are homeless, hungry, or in need in Durham. With the help of nearly 4,000 volunteers, countless donations from the community, and dedicated staff, we serve some 6,000 people each year who come seeking food, shelter, clothing, and supportive services. We are the primary public homeless shelter in Durham, and we welcome neighbors regardless of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs or non-faith, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. We provide immediate relief to those experiencing chronic or temporary homelessness and work with clients to end their homelessness as quickly and responsibly as possible. Guardian Angel Thrift
Guardian Angel Thrift Inc. is a nonprofit organization supporting Alzheimer’s Research, born from an idea of how to raise money for research in order to help find a cure for this disease. Our founder, Laura Gaddis, saw her mother suffer from Alzheimer’s for 12 years. Nearing the end of her mother’s life, she woke one morning with a plan she quickly put on paper — a nonprofit thrift store funding Alzheimer’s research.

Donation Town
DonationTown.org was born out of a simple desire: to boost charitable donations. It all began with an idea – to develop a website that would make it easier for people to donate to charities. We brought together a group of close friends and family, rolled up our sleeves, and started to brainstorm and research.

The Salvation Army of Wake County
Wake County is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. We consistently rank among the nation’s “Best Places for Business and Careers.” It’s easy to see growth and prosperity around almost every corner. What often goes unseen, are those in the shadows of this success.
Every day, thousands of our neighbors—men, women, and children—are in the battle of their lives. Battling hunger. Battling mental illness. Battling to break the bonds of human trafficking. And as our community continues to grow, so too does the need—need that is outpacing our social services resources.
